Why is eating a non endangered animal abhorrent?
I mean, I wouldn't want to eat a dog personally, but there's nothing morally wrong with it imho.
It's generally an intelligence thing. People don't like eating non ruminants because things that eat grass are generally dumb.
It's the same argument against eating predators, Dolphins, Parrots, Crows, dogs, cats, and other fairly intelligent species.
There's no hard and fast rule about what hits the threshold but generally it feels "icky" to eat stuff that might contemplate their demise.
