I don’t understand dev culture well. My understanding though is that this is all ad hoc thrown together on the fly and that anybody who wants to join in the effort is more than welcome.

There is a difference between the two. A Dev using llm is not just relying on the llm knowledge but on getting the llm to carry out their intent a lot faster.
