You have it backward. The dangerous precedent was core devs in their ivory tower hijacking BTC to turn it into data storage without consensus. The bip110 crowd is the intolerant minority defending Bitcoin as sovereign money and the plebs are with them. Soft forks have never required universal consensus and that's just how Bitcoin works. If you think this forces a minority opinion on you, you have a few choices. You can actively resist it by supporting a URSF, get on the bip110 train, or sell your coins.
