In most countries governments also pay for the insulin and chemo if you qualify. (I pay $0 for my insulin, but only like 5% of the cost is paid by Gov directly, the national diabetes association covers the other 95% of the cost.
(It's like $12 without a healthcare card, but a shitload more without being a member of the national diabetes association)
