And With a 1946 birth year, John was literally as senior of a Boomer as you could be, any older, and he would be of the silent generation. He even might be silent generation, if the boomer definition starts with births 9 months after the end of WW2 in Asia.
I have a friend who was born in 1940, still going strong, traveling out of town with his camper 5-10 times per year.
He and JCD are among the tiny minority of old people that are interesting.
