The irish hurling stick doesn't have much weight, and the air resistance is limiting the speed, to effectively stop the attack, it should go sideways at great speed, and ideally hit nose or Adams apple.

The interesting related point is that Israel and China has similar feral minorities, and I dare say they are the only industrialized nations that effectively protect their populations from their "nothing to lose" feral minorities.
Bur the same groups that blame the European governments (lots of people on the right) for being impotent are also crying foul about the treatment of Uighurs and Palestinians.
What's up with this inconsistency?
