(Granted I haven’t gotten to what I assume is your explanation thereof)

Further, please hear this as a learning question!

In your mind, are there other hard money options such as Monero, or no, there is something else about Bitcoin (or Monero) that distinguishes the two?

(I don’t have a preference, mostly just curious and engaging with what I’m reading from you)

Bitcoin is hard money not because it's hard to mine, it's hard money because it's hard to change. If it was easy to change (ETH, XMR, shitcoins in general) then it cannot be trusted to persist with its original properties (including 21M). That's why it's hard money.
