What would be an economic, beginner-friendly setup to run a Lightning Node? Should I get a Bitcoin Node, too? Really confused, but I want to take the next step 🧡 Looking forward and thanks for al...

Yes run a bitcoin node with it. I believe the best way to get going is to install Alby Hub wherever you install your node. They have good instructions on their website. They integrated opening channels with liquidity providers right inside alby hub and it’s easy to use. I recommend opening up one thats like 1,000,000 sats of incoming liquidity. Not sure what it costs to do that, but then you can comfortably receive sats going forward. They also will give you a way to have your own LN URL so you can get zaps that way. Plus you can then use the Alby Extension in the browser to login to nostr clients without raw dogging your nsec into them and easily connect your lightning wallet to them as needed

Also, if you get that far, it’s easy to connect your phone like Zeus Wallet to your alby hub so you can pay with lightning from your phone. I used that config the entire time I was in El Salvador and it worked flawlessly.

I didn’t feel Alby was easy at all. —setting up and maintaining a Lightning node is a pain in the ass in general. I’m sure it will get better, but I’m out of my depth I guess. A bitcoin node from start9 was plug’n play. Not advocating them, its just who I bought from.
