Partially true, but so is a painting by an artist. Doesn’t mean it is anything near sentient or “alive”, but has value and/or characteristics that are common extensions of your personality.
If we're struggling with a definition for "alive" and sentience, perhaps the problem isn't "what is or isn't", but in the spatial and temporal scale of how we view it.
