You don't have to take time to hunt down sources, by the way. Curious in what contexts you have heard this. If you are simply referring to their line of reasoning under the category of establishment...

I've been "tracking" Wilson for about 20 years. Read a bunch of his books and articles, listened to quite a few of his podcasts, went deep on the Federal Vision controversy. I read the published transcripts of the Auburn Avenue conference and many of the critiques. I read the sources he cited, like Schilder (what was available in English at the time, anyway). Same with the Shepherd Controversy (that gave birth to Federal Vision) at WTS all that went on there. And before that, all that went on between Shepherd, Murray, and Kline. I'm not meaning to puff out my chest here, only say that I believe I've done the due diligence to be able to say "I don't trust him," with a clear conscience. And to strongly caution others. I see this amounts to something of a 'trust me, bro' but I would encourage you to DYOR as well. (Acts 17:11).

He says a lot of good peripheral things, and he says them very well (he's quite the "wordsmithy"). But behind all this he gets the gospel wrong--as do all who reject the Edenic Covenant of Works. The downstream consequences of that are tragic. (Perhaps another reason why no man should self-ordain.)
