about halfway through my Avatar watchalong with irl friend, and it's finally getting to the part that makes me understand what people see in the show. the bending system is interesting, even if it took forever for them to actually differentiate the styles, and it encourages people to identify with whichever one they emotionally resonate with. that doesn't change that this show has detestable themes, but now that I see the Sorting Hat-type system I understand the appeal.
