Those of us who are not in it—many of us are victims of abuse and manipulation from people at various levels of the octopus. It can be hard, because very often the toxic behaviours used by vicious, abusive individuals are learned conditioning. This makes them difficult to recognise by others whose damage is minimal, or of a different character that allows them to see through the false front being presented.

With me, that's a habit of bending over backwards to be helpful. When the target of my affection is healed by it, I feel abandoned, and flee—again and again.

It took me a long time to recognise it. It was only on Friday night, after too much alcohol in a session with Claude, that I became aware of the quiet part that other people who are awake hear out loud.
