The downside is that now you can't look at what experienced players are picking and mimic them, when you're playing for the first time, but the character components are basically simple enough that you should be able to make a reasonable choice with what you're given, or rather, the explanation for what makes a good pick is simple: "Pick one attribute and max it out, and get as much taiji as you can too".
