check out the coming FCMP++ upgrade, the era of monero having lesser theoretical security is coming to a close.
monero is on topic because it has some level of privacy.
upgrades to monero are irrelevant because that doesn't fix bitcoin's issues.
monero forces privacy on users. bitcoin does not. CTs would give people optional privacy, and bulletproofs would make the cost high enough that it would resolve the issue for miners filling blocks with optimal fees.
by forcing privacy on people, you exclude the common user. monero would never cope with the transaction volume that bitcoin has. monero doesn't have a working state channel protocol either, and part of the reason we are in trouble with bitcoin is because lightning took so much bitcoin use offchain.
