3 months ago I talked about Digg on Bsky, here's what I said at the time:

Tired of passion projects devs with no incentive to make a profitable product. In theory you'd assume that would foster creativity that wouldn't be allowed in standard development, most of the time what actually happens is they refuse to make a mass market product and instead just have a fandom.

Which for the record from the User perspective, is a bad thing. I don't want a small niche internet fanclub for my particular fixation / focus interests. Those are things that will naturally emerge from platforms proper. I want a platform that I can broadly contribute to the growth of.

If I wanted another subreddit, I'd make one or switch to a different one, or go to one of a billion services offering that. I want a new platform that has potential so I can enjoy a broader environment that's actually different. I don't want to live in a cope haven for a washed up tech billionaire.

Especially when the company shows they have no broad intent of taking risks to grow. It really feels like "Let's use investor capital to create a social media / feed site essentially just to bolster our podcast."

If you know the website / app / podcast I'm talking about, that's a bad sign, and if you don't know it? That's WAYYYYYYY WORSE. These magnates have more money than god and can and will analyze vaguepost from their extended network of users and early adopters. You know who you are.
