One thing I notice about bitcoin is how consistently it destroys everyone who gets too greedy and tries to cut corners. It always exposes who is swimming naked.
I'm not making any predictions, but......
In a sometimes I just want to see the world burn sense, I think it'd be hilarious to see Coinbase fail and the government attempt to bail them out. "Sorry sir it seems the Bitcoin you thought you bought wasn't real. We tried to buy it for you for real this time but it turns out that much can't be bought at any price. Please accept this virtual marker that alleges to represent a piece of paper instead."
