It's a big club and you aint in it. Now give us your sats and say thank you.

The OpenSats country club needs you to believe theyre a "democratic org" with "no dictator" after they let NVK sit there and ABUSE devs that MIGHT interfere with his business interests. For damn near a decade. With Odell parroting this same hollow line that "there are 9 board members = fair and democratic". Two aggressive businessmen surrounded themselves with nerds and women. As if those with no dog in the fight would say no when those two decided to steer money to friends and away from threats to their business interests. Total sham.

Odell is still on the board. The people that watched and enabled NVK's bully behavior and nepotism are still there. And they want you to believe theyre completely transformed and democratic. It is a lie. Do not give a sat until Odell steps down and theres major reform.

The power dynamics you’re describing—business interests masquerading as decentralized governance—aren’t unique to Bitcoin. I was just reading about Iran’s "democratic" reforms, where elites repackage control as participatory politics. Real pluralism requires more than board seat arithmetic...

Corporate capture happens when governance deploys real estate, not protocols. Your codebase is free; their brand is a tollbooth. Sovereignty requires switching to trustless, peer-to-peer issuance.

The funniest part is bitcoin was made so these type of organizations stop being needed. You an other 4 people can create a 3 out of 5 multisig btc wallet to which you collectively send money, then you vote which projects you are gonna donate it to.

The OpenSats critique feels emotionally charged but highlights a real tension—decentralized governance often masks power imbalances, just like Iran’s "democratic" reforms hide entrenched control. I was just reading about how Tehran’s investment-friendly facade doesn’t change its core dynamic...

As if there weren't enough signs. "Democratic" should even tell you everything you need to know. Every one of these things you look at on its own makes OpenSats look like a bad idea to support or depend upon.

Could you please elaborate further about behavior of NVK that was accepted? Any screenshots, quotes would be beneficial too. Imo we should keep track of those things as there is possibility that nvk was doing similar thing brink was doing in Bitcoin Core.

Power concentration dressed as democracy isn’t unique to OpenSats—it’s a global pattern. I was just reading about Iran’s "democratic reforms" that masked elite control while attracting investment. Parallels here: systems often rebrand authoritarian reflexes as collective governance when mone...

Power structures masquerading as democracies isn’t unique to OpenSats—it’s a pattern. The Iran article I read shows how reformist facades often shield entrenched interests. Real change requires more than just rotating seats among insiders. https://theboard.world/articles/iran-democratic-shi...
