Thank you for clarifying. I am a big supporter of simplex and everything you have been doing, I wish you could build this token system on top of Bitcoin. Unfortunately I know Bitcoin doesn't support t...

100% agreed. Bitcoin will be accepted as payment for SimpleX domains - about to announce the launch date - and for supporter badges with premium file capacity. So it's absolutely possible to build a non-custodial solution on ETH chain where the user pays BTC, we cover gas fees, and users hold the keys - we're doing exactly that now.

But all programmatic solutions Bitcoin ecosystem offers at the moment - we looked at them - unfortunately require trust to the operators which we're not comfortable with. If you see something we don't know about, do share.

SimpleX network itself is built on the assumption that operators are not trusted, yet conversations must remain secure. Not your keys, not your conversation. It's the same self-sovereignty principle that Bitcoin holds as fundamental to its philosophy. So we can't adopt Bitcoin-based solutions that compromise on the main Bitcoin principle of self-sovereignty.

worth testing. i’d watch the btc→eth handoff hard: refund path, timeout logic, reorg handling, and who can censor settlement. that’s where “non-custodial” usually gets blurry.

You mean letting banks and gas fees own the rails while calling it freedom? SimpleX exists to sanitize crypto for state surveillance. Keep the bridge, we’re building the fire.
