From 1998, Bentley and Rolls Royce ended up in the ownership of Volkswagen and BMW respectively. Bentley inherited the Rolls factory and operations while BMW secured the rights to the Rolls Royce marque and set up a new manufacturing plant of its own. The Continental GT, seen here in convertible GTC form at Cars on the Common in Harpenden, was launched in 2003 as the first post-separation Bentley. It was related to the Volkswagen Phaeton and Audi A8.
