To be honest, after I posted that, I spent some time thinking about it. I think it's true to some extent, but there are a lot of situations where it doesn't really hold up.

What if someone is dealing with a chronic illness that has no cure? Or any number of circumstances that are completely outside their control? I'm not sure intelligence is the right measure in those cases.

If I could go back, I probably wouldn't have posted it. At the very least, I'd have phrased it differently.
