My quail set up uses the flexible accordian gutter hoses. I drill holes on top and then have the then bent in an L shape and fill the top part. It works well and I can adjust how much is stored in the leg by extending the accordian up or down. You have to cap the low end. I usually have 2 holes per 6 or 8nbirds and it works well. Not any waste if I keep the angles all.
