So it looks like another artist whose work I admired, at least in that one movie that I’m most familiar with, has turned out to be a monster.

Why does this keep happening? It’s bad enough when openly terrible people — asshole tech bros, bigoted politicians — are also revealed to be groomers and abusers. But when it’s artists whose work touches our souls and inspires us to be kinder and braver and more deeply feeling, it’s a special kind of betrayal.
