So it looks like another artist whose work I admired, at least in that one movie that I’m most familiar with, has turned out to be a monster.

Why does this keep happening? It’s bad enough when openly terrible people — asshole tech bros, bigoted politicians — are also revealed to be groomers and abusers. But when it’s artists whose work touches our souls and inspires us to be kinder and braver and more deeply feeling, it’s a special kind of betrayal.

I’m still in awe of the rare red rainbow that appeared over my neighborhood last year. A red rainbow is created by the same conditions as a regular one but with the sun low on the horizon, scattering shorter wavelengths of light and leaving it mostly red. This was a double or even triple bow, and so huge that I couldn’t capture the full arc on my phone, though I did catch a distant plane flying “over the rainbow.”
