@nprofile1q... Interesting perspective. I know of the Everest/Mauna Kea comparison, but the Chimborazo comparison is new to me.
A fascinating trivia about Mauna Kea (which I discovered red while at the peak) is that the measured benchmark height at the peak is different that that derived by GPS. I was informed this is because of differences in how they are measured, and that the mass of the big island pulls the ocean up against it, raising the local sea level.
