What do you need to live confortably? Buy a brand new house every 3 years? These numbers are wild.

Still a lot of ways to make due but there is some truth to these numbers if they are comparing living standards of the past to today.

This is a joke. My wife and I live comfortably in Arizona on about 10x less than they say is required.
