Thank you โก๐๐ถ this is indeed very useful! Def. some new profiles to explore!!! I haven't yet added all I have in the database, but yes, I'm always looking for fresh solo artists and bands. Currently listing more than 40 in just the EPK Lite (website) โ one of the main discovery sections (full bio, sample links, etc.).
Fyi. Since I'm building a hub that targets new people, I do keep links to Fountain, Wavlake (though less, since they're flooded by AI stuff), and yes, even YouTube โ to keep the entry point smooth and even 'predicatable' in a tiny way (adding the visual side of things is important = people like video clips โ and I don't want to make it confusing by adding once Rumble, sometimes Sunami, sometimes NostTube, Plebs, etc., i.e. sometimes this or that โ in case you'd suggest mixing sources ; anyways not many artists in the space (yet) have available clips... ๐)
My goal is to help: 1) Nostriches and Bitcoiners get more engaged with v4v music, but also 2) bring more outsiders to the space (otherwise we may end up in an echo chamber).
And, since many artists joined Nostr a bit too early / at a time when the community wasn't maybe ready for them โ they got demotivated by the small engagement and eventually stopped being active (many accounts from 202, 2023, 2024, etc. are dead). This is esp. something I wanna fix, hence mostly focusing on musicians with active npubs โ to help us all connect with them beyond just the sound, to show that we do care, zap, comment, and share (maybe overtime it will also motivate some of them to become less and less dependent on Instagram, Facebook, and whatever else is out there).
BUT. Not to totally discriminate against those whose music is available in Podcasting 2.0 apps but not (yet) active on Nostr โ I keep adding their songs (when fit) into different themed playlists. Just both the website (profiles, editorials, etc.) + the physical magazine will always highlight/prioritize names that have npubs (and in the meantime teach newbies about the power of the three awesome protocols changing the future of the music industry: Nostr, LN, RSS).
Just to give you a bit of context ๐ in a big shortcut... ๐
