Financial pain is the most appropriate punishment for bad economic decisions. Without it, what would you have happen? The world couldn't exist without winners and losers when it comes to wars like this. If you think you're right, you have to hope the other side loses. You can't just both win in the real world. It's flower power nonsense. It's a different thing to wish they'd change course and not destroy themselves, but if they're hell bent on it, so be it.
