Order of events to establish 'civilization':
1) barbarians come in and kill/drive out the natives
2) land is parceled off to people who are incentivized to do absolutely nothing of value with it
This creates an uninhabitable zone for actual humans, while those caught up in the evil scheme continue working to expand their empire of nothingness. And in our cities, we devise ever more useless products designed to waste even more of Mother Earth's bounty. Buying land and using it to nurture Life breaks this cycle.
