I hated CDs ever since they came out and I'm glad they're obsolete. Floppy disks had a protective cover, these things store hundreds of megabytes and they get scratched easily and become unreadable no matter how carefully you handle them

The first CD burner I ever got kept making coasters out of those. after days and days of troubleshooting I found that the thermal expansion in my hard drive was interrupting the writing process. damn thing sounded like a lawn mower

Doing no screen January for the kids so I bought a CD player for them and have gone through half a tower of these in the last two weeks burning audiobooks for them. We love it. Physical media FTW.

You had to kill all the other apps while Nero Burning Rom was doing its thing so you minimalize (not eliminate 😂) the chance to fuck the disc up..
