Switching to hard mode helps with a lot of puzzles. I used to use 2 turns and go through all the vowels automatically, but I can't anymore.

I still stay off hard mode. Half the time I will actually follow hard mode rules, but having the escape valve limits frustration. But you have to decide to deviate early or else it's a mess.
