I’m not so sure your take on this is reasonable. Humans are corruptible and when they depend on money and belonging to a group for their comfort or safety they are willing to go along with the group...

Humans always depend on money.

Core is one implementation that doesn't control the protocol. There hasn't been a change since taproot.

Don't like how Core does things, use something else. 'Reference implementation' just means most popular. There is nothing official about their project that isn't also true of btcd, libbitcoin, utreexod, or...well, I guess as Knots is a fork of Core it is sort of something it has dependencies on. But it needn't follow their decisions in a forward looking manner.

By all means, use something else. But don't be surprised that Bitcoin jumps on you if you side with an attack on it.
