@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... I have taken to making up superscript alts for *†‡ and putting them in {sups}, leaving defaults at more conventional size. I did make up a superior § once, but don’t generally now. Although it is traditionally the fourth (per Chicago Manual of Style), it is far less common in my experience. Usually by the time you get to four notes on a page, I find most authors/editors will switch to use numbering instead of symbols.
