To be more specific, she is a 70-something who's been married for 50 years and loves her husband deeply. But she's desperately unhappy where they live, for very good reason, and he won't consider moving.

She lost her adult child a couple of years ago, who was her best (and kind of only) friend.

At this point, she's depressed, does nothing all day, and can't find the will to do anything about it. She is in therapy, although I suspect her therapy situation is not world class.
