TBH it feels a bit like the run-up to the Iraq war, complete with the NYT fearmongering.... but when you look to the source of those fears you go "hmm... self-interested motivation much?"

What's scary about this is it's getting across bipartisan lines, because the center-left is very well-primed for exactly this kind of pseudo-scientific "precautionary principle" fearmongering as a pretext for State action.
