Trying new clients always helps. I use Nostria a lot and it has a For You page which can help a bit. Trending feeds can be useful, you can check the comments on popular posts and see if anyone catches your eye, then check out their posts. Stuff like that.
Finding relevant and timely hashtags automatically isn't the easiest problem, but it is doable, even if the computation is done locally. That should be a thing.
