There’s a story in Minnesota of 4 Somali American college kids who got arrested for trying to join ISIS in Syria. This was 13 years ago.
Out of the 4, one was arrested for providing material support for ISIS. The material support was the dude posting pro-ISIS content online on his own. He got arrested and was turned into an informant.
The agent working with him, got him to entrap 3 of his friends into joining ISIS and fly to Syria. These dudes were broke college kids and didn’t even have passports.
The FBI provided money for passports, plane tickets and pocket money. The 4 were arrested as they attempted to leave the country to join ISIS.
The entire scheme was designed by the FBI agent working the first guy. All three were convicted and now doing serious times.
