Honest question for ambitious folks out there...

How do you decide that you've done "enough" for a given day?

You just ‘know’

Feel tired & be at a good point to stop and pick it up later.
Shawn · 39w
I set 3 key todos/outcomes for each day. When they're done, my day is "good."
ABH3PO · 39w
It gets boring. I take the boring signal as a cue because I know I'm not going to be doing my best work henceforth.
paolo · 39w
it’s never enough but i guess just it’s just an inner feeling of peace and satisfaction with the work I did for a given day.
AJ · 39w
Some days it never feels like 'enough'. Other days a solid 2 hours and I'm done because those 2 hours hit so many marks

When I sit back and take a deep breath and my brain can relax then the days tasks have been done

I stop when I feel my energy fading. Recognizing your limits is part of the magic of life.🔥

Make progress every day. Quit when you're too tired/frustrated/distracted to go on. My wife lets me know when I'm working too hard, one way or another.
franzap · 39w
I hear ya. Ticking boxes for the day is a recipe for anxiety. Scheduling and extreme discipline. Allot a certain number of hours to work for the day, or a fixed slot. Are you 99% done and want the dopamine of completion? Shut down the computer. Easier said than done. I struggle with this too

Collapse on the floor and/or cry in the shower. Once I've secured myself in the fetal position with tears running down my cheeks I usually allow myself to pass out and call it a day.

1. I have a list of projects and tasks to touch most days. I have too many at the moment, so I've found it useful to make sure they get short sessions to keep them in memory, rather than letting enough time pass to let me start forgetting what I was doing. I get to most of them most days. I work on ...

i wish i was more ambitious, but i've still got an answer "enough" is when you have spent a certain period of time with hard work "i'll build for X hours each day, so that i will make progress and still have time for life"
Achilles · 39w
There’s no such thing as „enough“ for ambitious people. We keep showing up, relentlessly. Consistency. Persistence. That’s the game. We play a different game than people who chose comfort.

My body starts to feel uneasy, I need a quick lay down and hydration, mental break from the task, and then I'll feel more tinkering coming from my bones to get back up and continue. I struggle with sitting down and not doing anything, my relaxing is more like picking weeds in the garden or drawing...

I was never really able to slow down until I had a kid. Now, relaxing with her is also productive, so the incentives are aligned. 😛
Dr3sNoir · 39w
Personally, I think to feel that you have done enough for the day is mainly a focused decision by yourself to calm down and relax. Appreciate what you have done so far. Especially when you are a very intellectual person and it's hard for you to stop your mind. You will always find something what ...

I have an hard cap that I won't work after dinner. The work after dinner is always low quality and will fuck up my sleep, so it's not worth it. But still, stopping at 8pm every day is still too much. I would ideally stop at 6pm, but I rarely can escape my instinct of "I'll just fix a few more thing...

I never could consistently. Having kids was the only way that I could force myself to move out of “work mode”.

Sometimes I just have to stop even though a day didn't feel productive, so I can have a better one tomorrow.

I have the same problem 😓😳🫣 When I'm too exhausted, my body shut down or I lay down and fall asleep, because otherwise my mind doesn't rest, and I have new ideas to do... 1. I stop when my body stop and force me too sleep (restless mind😅🫣😳👀) 2. I

Well, provided you've done all that you absolutely HAVE to do that day, I make the decision to stop when I'm no longer able to focus or when I realize I've been going so nuts with a task that I haven't taken even a bathroom break in longer than an hour. That's generally how I approach it.
