Very few people are going to get replaced. At least, not permanently.
We're already seeing costs go up. Price per token will skyrocket once the bottom drops out.

I also agree we could be in a gold rush scenario that will backfire.
It's partially that it could happen, but what's quite clear is the people at the top want it to happen today and aren't shy about pushing for it using words and resources. If it fails, it won't be from lack of want or trying. My concern is that we have on one hand a fucked up system robbing us at every turn, and on the other a push to take away people's remaining ability to even hope to survive. If nothing else it's a concerning cultural and economic trend in my mind. And I don't think it's the same as prior advancements. None of that stuff fundamentally challenged the human's place. It just changed it. The goal with the AI CEOs seems to be full replacement ultimately. Now that isn't necessarily bad from a business perspective, but it is if the plan is to have government controlling everyone's income by UBI or something like that.
My economic concerns ultimately stem from This: the CEOs want to fire everyone to pump the books. The people controlling these technologies and everything resulting from them want to maximize profit and control. Where does the profit come from? Where is the control taken from? How much power will I have over my own existence? I can't see how it'll be more than now, which already isn't so high.
This is my doomer take anyway.
I have optimistic ideas as well, but anything I've heard addressing questions about negative impacts have been laughable. No one actually knows what the fuck is going on.
