Maybe you could try out https://hallway.fiatjaf.com or https://noasis.spatia-arcana.com and browse the different feeds and relays there to help find some normal people to follow? Once you find a few relays that you like, it gets easier to start building a nice follow list.

As far as reply bots... if you're receiving lot of spam replies, I'd recommend adjusting your read/inbox relays. The primal and damus ones tend to host a lot of spam because they act as gateways for new users, too. wss://nos.lol and wss://nostr.mom are a little more strict about what is considered spam, but still public. https://nostr.wine and https://nostr.land are also very good if you're interested in subscribing to higher quality services. They're both explained on their websites.
