While everyone was worrying about whatever threats quantum computing might pose at some point in the future, there are plenty of unmitigated disasters just waiting to happen right now.
Quantum threat is an unfalsifiable trust-the-experts group-think boogieman. When someone brings it up, I ask myself how they are using it to advance their agenda. Are they an ambitious dev looking for a way to be important? A company digging a regulatory moat? An agency expanding their power with security initiatives? Media looking for clicks? Or just someone trying to suck up to or fit in?
