I never seemed to have the trouble others have with force-closed channels etc, but I am also only running my node for my own use, and so I have only a handful of channels, mostly with channel partners I know. I can also see how running a lightning node isn't for everyone. ...

Just don't run LND, my 0.02. if you're a beginner use AlbyHub good training wheels. Pay for it in the cloud so you can get support and learn. its a learning curve and you will lose funds, so start with that. Good luck.
