Yup. Tradeoffs, only worth it if your time is cheap and you invest in the tools to fix em. From someone who used to modify old vehicle firmware professionally.
I just sunk a bunch of money into the tools [and time] required to get my home networking in a place I'm happy with. Lots of crawling around and snaking cables - all good fun. Might hold off on building out an auto garage for a bit :)
