Day Three of Being Laid Off After a 20 Year Career

I spent days one & two taking care of family insurance details, but also emailing 70-80 clients & suppliers to let them know I was no longer with the company.
In turn, I’ve spent dozens of hours fielding email replies, text messages, & phone calls.
I can’t dismiss the fact that it’s been emotional, & my adrenaline & cortisol have been running at an incredibly high level.

Bizarrely, it feels like I’ve just lost a close family member. I’m coming to terms with the fact that those comfortable, dependable days when you know exactly what to do, where you fit in & how to maneuver are now behind me.
I know those days are also somewhere out in front of me again. But right now, they just feel a long way off.

How uncomfortable. That really sucks. I bet there are a lot of layers of grief. But you're right, there is a path back, there's a path to wherever you want to be.

I was working in the automotive industry in 2008 and can remember over 1/3 of our plant's workers which included office worked being laid off. I learned one lesson that remained. Everyone got a better job! A bonus you have is that you also have bitcoin at your side.

Losing a family member , divorce and getting fired (moving to a new city) have a similar emotional toll that’s hard to comprehend sometimes. You’ll adapt at your own pace. 🌻

Sudden job loss floods your system with adrenaline and cortisol, and that stress response can persist for weeks or even months. So on day three, what you're feeling is your body doing what it does after a major loss.

Hang in there. This, too, shall pass!

If you have good relationships with those companies one of them almost certainly will extend an invitation or give you business at a new company you join. People are loyal to people not companies. You will make it through brother 👊

You traded 20 years of rent-seeking for autonomy. The market rewards the executor, not the employee. Use this void to build assets, not apologies. "Fortunes favor the bold."
