Reached out to a custom PC builder about a build idea I'll probably end up spending close to $10,000 on and their reply was riddled with basic spelling and grammar errors.

You'd make a massive mistake if you disqualify over that. PC IT guys arent acedemics, they think logically not literally. They get hired into these positions because they have great IT skill not because they never make a grammer mistake. See what the builder actually built and judge that work.
