Abu Dhabi-based Yas Holding's Executive Director, Ismail Al Shamisi, announced the launch of a new company, 'Ishraq', to become the first local and regional company to provide terrestrial space services and solutions to the commercial and government sectors through terminal stations. Al Shamisi said in an interview with 'Al Ittihad' that Ishraq, which was launched as part of Yas Holding's expansion strategy, aims to complement the services provided by national companies specialized in satellite services. He added that the company will build a terrestrial system through the development and construction of a factory and laboratory, as well as the training of national cadres. Al Shamisi highlighted that Ishraq will showcase a number of solutions during the 'Yas' exhibition, and introduce visitors and participants to them, noting that the company is 100% Emirati-owned and will manufacture and develop locally. Yas Holding, which includes Global Aviation Services, a company specialized in aviation navigation and monitoring, and the new Ishraq company, has a strategy to expand its services in the aviation navigation sector, which covers two-thirds of the country's airspace. Al Shamisi said that the company has launched an expansion strategy to expand its aviation navigation services to keep pace with the development of the aviation sector in the country and advanced technologies such as drones and flying taxis. He added that the company has started implementing the expansion strategy, which includes applying the latest technology in the aviation navigation sector, and has signed an agreement with 'Talex' in November to develop an air traffic management system, as well as opening an air traffic management laboratory. Al Shamisi stated that the first step in the new strategy is to enter the smart transportation system, where we will play a role in providing air traffic management and monitoring services for drones and flying taxis, and cooperate with local national entities in this regard. He added that the implementation of the new expansion strategy will be phased over the next five years. Al Shamisi emphasized that Yas Holding's expansion strategy includes expanding Global Aviation Services, launching Ishraq, and investing in solutions related to the terrestrial, marine, and aviation sectors in general. Yas Holding has invested in attracting national cadres, with a nationalization rate of 63% in the aviation monitoring sector, and has launched a program to attract high school graduates for training for three years, where they will be considered employees of the company during their training and become certified and licensed air traffic controllers after their successful completion of the program.
