Mostly because I feel stupid for loving a fictional creature that much, I don't know how to explain it to NTs.
If you're wondering it was "love at first sight". I already loved Tails since I was a little kid, so having an "angsty but deeply codependent if given little love" version of him was like my childhood experience being heard.
