Reuters reports that Norway has seized a Russian vessel due to $4.22 billion in unpaid compensation owed to Naftogaz for Crimea. By decision of a Norwegian court in Svalbard, the Russian-owned ship Professor Molchanov, which was used for commercial expedition cruises, was impounded. This marks the first practical step in Norway toward enforcing the Hague arbitration ruling, which back in April 2023 ordered Russia to pay Naftogaz $4.22 billion plus interest and legal costs for assets seized following the occupation of Crimea.
