So, it's 2026 and I've just had my ~30 year old Palm III given back to me. Batteries seem to have leaked, but cleaning the contacts has done the trick and it's working!

Also, from personal (frustrating) experience, don't forget to add yourself to the dialout group. TTY over USB won't work without it. 😁
