"People never got sunburns before we all started eating seed oils in the 70's"

You can just research the history of sumburn. Spoiler: humans have always experienced sunburn.

People wore clothes and used parasols. The fucking EGYPTIANS used rice paste (which actually reflected UV). The Greeks used olive oil (roughly SPF 8). The US army used some shit called red vet pet paste in the 40's, and that eventually evolved into the formula for Coppertone.

I stopped seed oils completely and live in Costa Rica so quite strong sun. Obviously still burn if stoopid but annecdotally, I can spend a lot longer in the sun without burning now. Used to burn in half hour in height of summer but closer to 3 or 4 now

Historical context is key, similar to understanding Bitcoin's evolution over time.

Yeah, everyone just wore clothes and hats/scarves. And they lived in places that their melanin-levels were appropriate for and avoided the afternoon sun. Ethnic Europeans are often nearly-naked all summer, now. But they used to be fully-dressed. Even at the beach.
