Gamers.

So I fucking hate Windows with a raging passion. I want to nuke the windows dual boot that I keep on my primary computer for gaming and I want to Use a Linux distribution that will be relatively easy to run games on. Anyone ever use SteamOS as a dual boot or are there better options out there?

i think any distro is fine, but amdgpu tends to work best on linux

I can't say that I'm a huge gamer, but Linux Mint has played everything I've thrown at it. Steam has a great compatibility layer built on proton. I moved from windows to Linux gaming several years ago. No looking back. Proton is great. I like PopOS.

My suggestion is to break free from the idea of needing SteamOS or a "gaming distribution" entirely. Most distros nowadays will run games just fine, the only thing is that you might have to install a tool here or there through your software repositories (eg. Protontricks, ProtonUp-QT, etc). There is near zero difference between the distro's imho. In the end they can all run steam/lutris/hero launcher (or whatever it's called). Apparently wayland is better than X these days but i do not really notice any difference. I went from plain ubuntu with a 2080RTX with X.org to a 5070ti with kub...
